David Roger “Pap” Cope, age 78 of Toronto passed away at his home Monday, March 26, 2018.
He was born February 17, 1940 in Connellsville, PA the son of the late Samuel Cope and Kathlyn (Hyatt) Thomas.
David was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Toronto; was a woodworker; loved to collect trains and had served his country in the U.S. Army having been stationed in Iceland during his service.
He retired from C.S.I. Steel Processing Company as a slitter operator serving the company 47 years from 1965 to 2012.
David was preceded in death by his parents. Brother, John Cope and step-father, Charles Thomas.
He leaves behind his wife, Janet Marie (McCart) Cope whom he married July 2, 1960; daughters, Lisann (Tony) Durm of Marietta, OH and Shelley (Anthony) Osso of Steubenvile, OH; son, David Patrick Cope of Toronto; grandchildren, Kayleigh and Todd Durm, Lindsey (Bryan) Smith, David Micheal (Tara) and Shane Ryan Cope; great-grandchildren, Lacy and Braxton Smith and Orion David Cope; sister, Deborah Jean Hill of Colorado Springs, CO.
Friends and family will gather for visitation 4-8 P.M. Thursday, March 29th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.
David’s service will be held 11 A.M. Friday, March 30th at the funeral home with the Reverend Father Thomas Vennitti officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date at the Toronto Union Cemetery with full military honors.
