Jane A. (Straka) Voorhees

Jane A. Voorhees, age 67 of Toronto, OH passed away suddenly Friday, April 22, 2016 at her home. She was born to the late George A. and Stephanie Agnes (Radeski) Straka on September 1, 1948.

Jane especially  enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and pets. Her greatest passion was helping and caring for those in need. Jane took great pride in being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She was an avid reader especially history books and liked scary movies! Her favorite pastimes were spoiling her grandchildren as well as doting on her pets and any wild animals that would come to the door.

She graduated from Toronto High School in 1969 and worked as a retail clerk and waitress; she felt most at home as a waitress at Margaret’s Café where she worked for 10 years. The staff and the patrons were her extended family.

Jane had an unwavering faith in God and studied the Bible often. She was a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church of Toronto, OH. One of her favorite Bible verses was John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Mary Ann VanKirk. Jane is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert J. Voorhees; son George S. Swiger; grandchildren Hailey and Travis Swiger; and sisters Eleanor Turick and Marcia Bishop.

Arrangements for Jane will be private at the convenience of her family and are in the care of the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto, OH.
