John Phillip Sousa

John Phillip Sousa, age 60 of Toronto, OH passed away suddenly Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH.

He was born June 28, 1957 in Akron, OH the son of the late Raymond Harry Sousa and Margaret Kathleen (McCourt) Sousa.

John was a 1976 graduate of Stanton Local High School; was an avid collector and was retired as the road maintenance foreman for the Knox Township Trustees.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Victoria Antoinette Sousa; mother-in-law, Marge Smith and father-in-law, Donald Humphreys.

John is survived by his wife, Mildred “Dee” Sousa; daughter, Amy Kay Sousa of Toronto, OH; sons, John Phillip Sousa of Toronto, OH and Robert (Maureen) Kane of East Liverpool, OH; grandchildren, Raymond John Donald Sousa, Jacob Kane and Jack Kane; sister, Marguerite B. (Jeff) Sousa Lebo of Toronto, OH and brothers, Raymond Henry Sousa and Steven Eric (Tela) Sousa all of Toronto, OH.

Visitation hours for John will be held 11-1 Tuesday, March 27th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main Street, Toronto, OH. Immediately following the visitation hours family and friends will proceed to and gather at the Osage Cemetery, Township Highway 285 off of State Route 152 at the entrance to Austin Lake, Toronto, OH for a graveside service with the Reverend Jason Gorney officiating.

Following the graveside service there will be a luncheon served at the Toronto Fraternal Order of Eagles, 112 North Fifth Street, Toronto, OH.
