Paul Glendon Campbell, age 89 of Toronto, OH passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at his home

He was born December 3, 1926 in Fullerton, KY the son of the late Bertice Campbell, Sr. and Bessie (Eldridge) Campbell.

Paul lived in Kentucky until he was thirteen when his parents moved to Steubenville, OH. At the beginning of W.W. II his parents moved to Warren, OH where he attended Warren G. Harding High School after which he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the LSM17 in the South Pacific theatre of operations. After discharge from the navy Paul became an employee of Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel Co. as a switchman and conductor in the yard department for twenty years. In 1967 he moved to Florida where he worked for Grummon Aero Space as a marine electrician on hydrofoil boats and deep submerging vehicles and  following that employment he worked eight years at the Perry energy Systems as a project manager in research and development spending much of his time in the Bahamas. In 2005 Paul and his wife Mary Ellen moved to Toronto, OH where they had many nieces and nephews.

Paul was a member of  the Toronto American Legion Post #86.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ellen (Peters) Campbell December 6, 2013 whom he married September 25, 1948; brother, Bertice “Porky” Campbell, Jr. and sister, Mary  “Pat” Avenell Campbell Talamine and nephew Kenneth Talamine.

Paul’s is  survived by nieces and nephew, Janet Talamine Petrella of Toronto, OH, Norma (Eugene) Brown of Richmond, OH, Dennis (Patty) Talamine of Pottery Addition (Steubenville), OH, Cindy (Terry) Talamine-Coulter of Toronto, OH, Teri (Bill) Anderson of Greensburg, PA, Monda Campbell Reineke of Wintersville, OH and Donella Campbell Hilbert of Cadiz, OH; many great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours for Paul will be held 4-8 Thursday, July 21st at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main Street, Toronto, OH

A celebration of Paul’s life will be held 11 A.M. Friday, July 22nd at the funeral home with Chaplain Dana Campbell officiating.   Interment will be at the Toronto Union Cemetery where there will be military honors by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard.
