Samuel George Starkey

Samuel George “Sampa” Starkey, age 65 passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH.

He was born September 8, 1952 in Steubenville, OH.

Sam had attended the First United Methodist Church of Toronto; graduated in 1970 from Jefferson Union High School ; was a member of the Teamsters Union and served his country in the U.S. Navy.

He was retired as a truck driver from the Baker Highway Express Truck Company of Dover, OH.

Sam was preceded in death by his father, Merlin Donald Starkey, Sr. and a brother, Merlin Donald Starkey, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Regina Marie (Milligan) Starkey whom he married September 28, 1991; mother, June Lorraine (Shirey) Starkey of Toronto, OH; daughter, Wendy Lynn (Jerry) McDonald of Steubenville, OH; son, Joseph Edward (Renea) Bauman III of Toronto, OH; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Alice D. Smith of Toronto, OH; brother, James R. Starkey of Toronto, OH; niece, Heather Lorraine (James) Allen of East Liverpool, OH; nephews, Merlin Donald Starkey III of Toronto, OH, Greggory Alan (Jana) Starkey of Mt. Vernon, OH, Theodore Adam (Kathy) Smith of Leetonia, OH and James Richard (Jamie) Starkey, Jr. of Toronto, OH.

Visitation hours for Sam will be held 2-4 & 6-8 Wednesday, November 29th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, OH.

A celebration service of Sam’s life will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, November 30th at the funeral home with the Reverend Kevin Rinkes officiating. Interment will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery with full military honors by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard..
