Violet Isabell McClain age 86 a homemaker of Toronto passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville.
She was born January 3, 1932 in Jefferson County, Ohio the daughter of the late Clyde Eugene Eddy and Marie Ellen (Wolfe) Eddy.
Violet was a member of several organizations including the New Somerset Christian Church where she was church secretary for 60 plus years and treasurer of Family Night for 27 plus years, Friends of the Jefferson Ruritan Club, Toronto Order of Eastern Stars, Toronto Senior Citizens Club, 50 plus club of the New Somerset United Methodist Church and the Willing Workers of the New Somerset Christian Church and the Knoxville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
She was a 1951 graduate of Jefferson Union High School (Edison Local); was a telephone operator at the Knoxville telephone exchange and loved to travel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold M. McClain in 1993 whom she married August15, 1953; brothers, Eugene, David and Charles “Bud” and Raymond Eddy; sisters, Lucille Shirley and Ruth Corder.
Violet leaves behind sons, David H. (Karen) McClain of Wellsburg, WV and Keven L. McClain of Siler City, N.C.; four grandchildren, Rhiannon Loftus, Holly (Ralph) Parissi, Joshua and Julie McClain; great-grandchildren, David John Loftus and Anacelia Parissi.; sister, Martha (Phil) Thomas of Chester, WV.
Friends and family will gather for visitation 10 – 12 noon Tuesday, April 3rd at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.
A celebration service of Violet’s life will be held at 12 noon Tuesday at the funeral home with the Reverend Jeff Proya officiating. Interment will follow at the Sugar Grove Union Cemetery, County Road 68, Toronto near Empire, OH.
