David Robert Carnahan, age 79 of Toronto, OH passed away Wednesday, October16, 2019 at the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH.
David was born June 27, 1940 in Irondale, OH the son of the late Hershel John Carnahan in 1996 and Eula Grace (Householder) Carnahan in 2010.
He was a member of the Riverview United Methodist of Toronto; was dedicated to his church, his family and loved his garden; was a 1958 graduate of Jefferson Union High School and was a loyal follower of the Toronto High School Red Knights; served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era and was retired from the First Energy Sammis Power Plant in Stratton, OH.
Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by his brothers, James Hershel Carnahan in 1938 and John Clark Carnahan in 2005.
David is survived by his wife, Marguerite “Rita” D. Carnahan whom he married February 22, 1994; sons, Robert D. (Renae) Carnahan of Old Hickory, TN and James Carnahan of Richmond, OH; step-sons, Thomas E. (Tina) Drake of Orient, OH and William W. (Rebecca) Drake of Colliers, WV; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; brother, Donald E. (Donna) Carnahan of Toronto, OH and sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Hilderbrand of Toronto, OH and Esther J. Carnahan of Austintown, OH.
Visitation hours for David will be held Saturday October 19th 10 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto, OH followed by a celebration service of David’s life at 1 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor William Westling officiating.
David’s family would like to give special thanks to the cancer nurses on the third floor of the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville for the loving and outstanding care they gave to David.
Full Military Honors will be presented at the funeral home by the Toronto American Legion following David’s service Saturday.
