Joseph Edward “Jeep” Prosko, age 85 of Toronto (New Somerset), OH passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH
Jeep was born April 5, 1934 in Stratton, OH the son of the late Andrew and Anna Marie (Misconish) Prosko.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church of Toronto; was a 1953 graduate of Toronto High School and was an avid woodworker.
Jeep retired as a conductor after 44 years from the Pennsylvania Railroad which later became the Conrail Railroad.
He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.
Besides his parents, Jeep was preceded in death by his son, John Edward Prosko in 1980; sister, Elizabeth Ann Scheel in 2003 and brother Andrew Prosko, 2017.
Jeep is survived by his wife, Myra Jane “Molly” Prosko whom he married July 11, 1959; sons, Joseph “Joey” Prosko of Mansfield, OH and David Prosko of New Somerset, OH; sister– in-law, Suellen (Jim) Pillutti of Irondale, OH and brother-in-law, Joe (Diane) Urich of Irondale, OH.
Friends and family will gather for Jeep’s visitation from 3 to 7 P.M. Monday, May 27th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.
A Solemn Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10 A.M. Tuesday, May 28th at the St. Joseph Byzantine Catholic Church, 814 N. Fifth St., Toronto with officiant Father John Kapitan, OFM. Interment will follow at the Sugar Grove Union Cemetery, County Road 68, Toronto.
Full military graveside honors will be provided by the Toronto American Legion.
