Raymond Albert Schoonmaker, age 76 of Toronto, OH passed away Monday, January 14, 2019.
He was born February 23, 1942 in Follansbee, WV.
Ray was a member of the Toronto Masonic Lodge #583 F.& AM, and the Honorable Company of Horners and was a 1961 graduate of Wellsburg High School. Ray was a knife and powder horn maker and was a primitive camper.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era and retired as a boilermaker from the First Energy Company Sammis power plant in Stratton, OH.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, John Raymond and Mary Pearl (Taylor) Schoonmaker; daughter, Mary Theresa Schoonmaker in 2005 and a brother, Donald Schoonmaker.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie (Bingle) Schoonmaker whom he married May 19, 2007; sons, Jorg Raymond (Kristen) Panz of Pohlheim, Germany and Raymond I. (Tina) Schoonmaker of Savannah, MO; daughter, Lydia S. (Drew) Robertson of McKinney, TX and grandchildren, Frank Schoonmaker, Andrew and Grace Robertson and Benedikt, Jonas and Ann-Kathleen Panz.
Visitation hours for Ray will be held 3-8 Saturday, January 26th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, OH
Masonic services will be held 7:30 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
A memorial service celebrating Rays life will be held at the funeral home 8 P.M. Saturday, with the Reverend Susan Clegg officiating.
Full military honors for Ray will be conducted at the funeral home following his memorial service Saturday.
