Thurston Junior Brand

Thurston Junior Brand, age 86 of Toronto, OH passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Dixon Health Care Center, Wintersville, OH

He was born June 19, 1930 in Toronto, OH the son of the late Thurston Dallas Brand and Cecilia (Kowalsky) Brand.

Thurston was a former member of the Findley United Methodist Church, Steubenville, OH and the Knoxville Volunteer Fire Department.

He was retired from the Operating Engineer’s Union of Ohio and  the Anthony Mining Co. of Toronto, OH as a heavy equipment operator.

Thurston was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Rosalie Ann Brand; son, Alan James Brand; grandson, David Lee Rosenberger; sister, Shirley Popivchak Stull; brothers, Orvis “Buck Brand, Alton “Bud” Brand,  Joseph Popivchak and son-in-law, Dave Rosenberger

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Pearl Della (Brown) Brand whom he married May 18, 1948; daughter, Cynthia Rosenberger; son, Thomas “Ed” (Moe) Brand; granddaughter, Tina Marie Rosenberger; grandson, Travis Lee Brand; sister  Wynona “Sis” (Robert) Peckens all of Toronto, OH and sister Irene Popivchak of Wintersville, OH. Several nieces and nephews survive.

Arrangements for Thurston are in the care of the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto. To honor Thurston’s wishes, he will be cremated without visitation or services.

Memorial contributions in memory of Thurston may be made to the Knoxville Volunteer Fire Department, 15447 State Rt. 213,  Toronto, OH 43964 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
