Carl E. Buchanan - Age 78 - of Toronto, passed away Saturday - March 8, 2003 at the Trinity Medical Center - West, Steubenville.He was born January 9, 1925 in Port Homer, Ohio, the son of the late Elza Buchanan who passed away in 1960 and Hazel Grimm Buchanan who passed away in 1978.Carl is a member of the Toronto Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6906 and the Toronto Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1276.He is a W.W.II - U.S. Army veteran having served in the European Theatre of Operations in Company B, 4th - Ranger Battalion. He participated in the following campaigns during W.W.II - Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France and Central Europe Rhineland. He received the following - Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Medal and five Bronze Stars. Carl is retired from the former Kaul Clay Co. of Toronto.He was preceded in death by: Parents / Son - Timmy Carl Buchanan who passed away in 1997 / Brother - Ronald Buchanan who passed away in 1978.Carl''s survivors are:Wife: Jean (Blasko) Buchanan of the home whom he married August 22, 1946Son: Clinton A. Buchanan and wife Janice of TorontoBrother: Charles Buchanan and wife Carla of Wellsville, OH3 Sisters: Doretta Glenn of Dover, OH Ruth Kirkpatrick of Toronto Nadine Amos of Costonia, OH4 Grandchildren2 Great-grandchildrenFriends and family will be received for visitation - 7-9 Monday / 2-4 & 7-9 Tuesday at the Clarke Funeral Home - 302 Main St. - Toronto.There will be V.F.W. services at the funeral home 7:00 P.M. Tuesday.A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday - March 12, 2003 at the funeral home with Lay Minister John Keenan officiating.
