Carol Sue McTheny, age 76 of Toronto passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the Laurels of Steubenville

She was born July 25, 1945 in Steubenville the daughter of the late Joseph and Bertella (Richards) Blackburn.

Carol was a graduate of Jefferson Union High School; loved to crochet; was a Chef and had been a Chef at the Merritt Manor Skilled Care facility in Toronto.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard McTheny, Sr. whom she married March 12, 1966 and brothers, Sam and Joseph Blackburn.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Deborah L. (Bob Zeigler) Merritt of Toronto; son, John R. (Desiree) McTheny, Jr. of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Brittany and Zachery Merritt and Brooke and Bret McTheny; great-granddaughter, Nora Lynne Cox; brother, Bill Blackburn of Columbus, OH; sisters, Lou Ann Gibson of Mingo Jct. and Donna (Wendel) Vandyke of Toronto.

Visitation for Carol will be held 4-6 Sunday, September 5th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.

A celebration service of Carol's life will be held 11 A.M. Monday, September 6th at the funeral home with Carol's granddaughter, Brittany Merritt officiating. Interment will follow at the Island Creek Cemetery.
