Carol A. Thompson, 83, of Toronto, Ohio, passed away Saturday, December 6 2025, at home surrounded by her loved ones. Carol was born on August 12, 1942, in Garfield Arkansas, the daughter of the late Claude and Juanita Shepherd and Mac and Blanche McCoy. She retired from Friendship Village of Columbus Ohio and devoted much of her life to caring for others through her work in health care including Ohio University Hospital in Columbus and Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville. She was a graduate of Whittier CA High School and later in life received her LPN from Jefferson Technical College in Steubenville Ohio. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her former husband, Thomas W. Thompson, Brother John Shepherd and grandson Jeremiah Embry. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Susanne (Jeff) Jones of Toronto who cared for her in her last years; three sons, Thomas J. Thompson of Toronto, Robert J. Thompson of New Albany, Ohio, Martin B. (Cristine) Thompson of Toronto; a sister Neeta Remy and a brother Paul (Susie) Shepherd. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Jessica (Jake) McClain, Brien (Kasey) Thompson, Samantha, Nicholas, and Amanda (Alex) Thompson, Marika, Ashley, DeVaunte Mason, Tylyshia (Michael) Shephard; Krystal, Tiffany and Matt Miller, many great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also close to her heart were her lifelong friend, Gale Oliphant, and her faithful canine companion, Sandy. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 10 2025, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Clarke Funeral Home in Toronto, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. in which Chaplain George Romage of Valley Hospice will officiate. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Toronto Union Cemetery.
