"Bob" Meyer
June 19, 1934 – October 6, 2024
Reverend Charles Robert Meyer, age 90, of Toronto passed away Sunday October 6, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at the Celebration Villa of Chippewa, Pennsylvania.
He was born June 19, 1934 in Toronto, OH, the son of the late Charles Herman Meyer and Ethel Lucy "Pinky" (Coulter) Meyer.
His affiliations included: member of the Upper Ohio Valley Presbytery, Toronto Kiwanis Club, Jefferson County Bee Association, Toronto American Legion Post 86, Kane Masonic Lodge # 566 F & AM.
Bob was a retired United Presbyterian Minister having served churches in Iowa, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. Bob was ordained in 1965 by the Steubenville Presbytery. He retired in 2020 from the Oak Hill United Presbyterian Church, WV. Following his first retirement, Bob served several local churches before retiring from the Hill Top Presbyterian Church as Pastor Emeritus in 2021. Bob's education of 17 years included a Masters of Divinity.
He proudly served his country as a Chaplin in the Army with the rank of Captain. He had served at Ft. Dix, Ft. Bragg, and Pleiku, Vietnam.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by infant sons; Charles David Meyer 1977 and Nathaniel Robert Meyer in 1980; brothers, Paul Herman Meyer in 1931 and Samuel A. Meyer in 2000.
Bob is survived by his wife, Karen Louise (Drewery) Meyer; children, Christa Jo Tang and husband Don of Mt. Lebanon, PA, Lottie Ann Medvit and husband James of New Castle, PA; sisters, Jane Eleanor Fisher of Weirton, WV and Ruth Evelyn Stephens of Cadiz, OH; brothers, William R. Meyer and wife Jo Ann of East Springfield, OH, Reverend Carroll C. Meyer and wife Jimmy of Lancaster, OH and brother John M. Meyer of Huron, OH; sister-in-law Mary Alice Meyer of Toronto, OH; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Carmen and Molly Medvit and Christopher, Robert and Lucy Tang.
Friends and family will gather for visitation Thursday, October 10 from 4 to 8pm at the Hill Top Presbyterian Church, County Road 46, Toronto, OH.
A celebration service of Bob's life will be held Friday, October 11 at 11am, with visitation from 10 until the time of the service.
Full Military honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard.
