Obituary

Charles E. Thompson - Age 88 - of Toronto, died Friday, December 14, 2001 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville.
He was born November 10, 1913 in East Liverpool, Ohio the son of the late Elmer and Ida Cottrell Thompson.
Charles was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Toronto.
He was a 1932 graduate of Toronto High, graduate of Kent State University with a B.A. Degree in music and a graduate of Ohio State University with a Masters Degree in music. He was a member of several music fraternities.
Charles was retired from Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio where he was a professor of music for 30 years before his retirement. Charles was also the Chairman of the Music Department at Ohio Wesleyan University.
He was a veteran of W.W.II serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Cryptographer. Charles''s survivors are: Wife: Mary Evelyn Riddle Thompson at home whom he married June 1, 1947 2 Daughters: Susan M. Thompson and husband Hoyt Corbett of Bainbridge Island, Washington Katherine J. Kaplan and husband Alex of Irvin, California 3 Sisters: Iva M. ''''Sis'''' Spencer of Safety Harbor, Florida Kathleen Welsch and husband Don of Lady Lake, Florida Jacqueline Finch of Tampa, Florida Four Grandchildren Friends and family will be received for visitation Sunday, 12-3 and 7-9 P.M. at Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main Street, Toronto, Ohio. 740-537-1234 or 800-588-1446 A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 17, 2001 at Clarke Funeral Home with Reverend Lucas Pina officiating. Burial will follow at Toronto Union Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be given by the Toronto American Legion. Memorial contributions in memory of Charles may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 116 N. Third Street, Toronto, Ohio 43964 or to the Toronto High School Alumni Association, 102 N. Third Street, Toronto, Ohio 43964
