Cleona Mae Maxwell, age 78 of Wintersville passed away Monday, April 10, 2023 suddenly after a brief illness at the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville.

She was born August 17, 1944 in Toronto the daughter of the late Harvey Joel Payne and Beatrice Geraldine Flanagan.

Mae was a collector of ceramic pigs and had attended the Cornerstone Church of Toronto and had been employed at Rue 21of Weirton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wesley Maxwell, Jr. April 1, 2023 whom she married April 9, 1966. Fifty-six years together.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mae was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Flanagan and sisters Barb Masters and Kay Popivchak.

Surviving are her beloved sons, Bobby (Vickie) Maxwell of Sylva, NC, Christopher (Lynnette) Maxwell of Wintersville and Joey (Jodie) Maxwell of Mingo, Junction; sister, Juanita (Bill) Hoover of Stratton; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Trevor, Abby, Luke, Kristie (Shaun), Emmah and William; great-grandchildren, Carson and Gracie Brandon; many nieces and nephews survive.

Visitation hours for Mae will be held Friday, April 14th from 12noon to 2PM at the Cornerstone Church, 423 Clark St., Toronto followed by a celebration of Mae's life service at 2PM at the church with Pastor Raul Diaz officiating. Interment will follow at the Sugar Grove Union Cemetery, County Road 68, Toronto.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mae may be sent to the American Cancer Socity.

Following the service and internment, friends and family are invited to return to the church for a meal and fellowship with the family.
