David R. Burns Sr. age 67 of Toronto, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2005 at the Valley Hospice Palliative Care Center - Steubenville.Born November 15, 1937 in East Liverpool, he is a son of the late Robert G. and Vashti E. Swickard Burns. He is a member of the Bell Chapel United Methodist Church, Toronto Masonic Lodge #583 F & AM, a 1955 graduate of Toronto High School, and is a member of the Jefferson Ruritan Club, where he served as club president five times, was a past assistant zone Governor, and was a Tom Downing Fellow. He is retired from the former Ohio Edison Company - Toronto Plant.He is preceded in death by his parents.David''s survivors include, his wife Mrs. Marjorie McConnell Burns of the home, whom he married February 15, 2002. Two sons, David R. Burns Jr. and his wife Christine of Oxford, Pa. And Tech. Sgt. William Burns and his wife Michaela of Germany. A daughter, Mrs. Nancy Lapinski and her husband James of Columbus, a brother Frederick P. Burns and his wife Patricia of Toronto. Six grandchildren, Logan and Morgan, Jennifer and Jessica, and Steven and Jennifer., and two nephews, Jonathan P. Burns and his wife Jennifer of Dayton, Ohio and Sean F. Burns and his wife Sarah of Jersey City, N.J.Family and friends will gather for visitation on Wednesday, August 3, 2005 from 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. at the Clarke Funeral Home - 302 Main St. Toronto 740-537-1234/800-588-1446. Toronto Masonic Lodge #583 will hold Masonic services at 7:00 P.M. and Jefferson Ruritan Club will hold services at 8:30 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bell Chapel United Methodist Church - 3419 State Route 213, Steubenville with Rev. Jeff Proya officiating.
