David E. A"PappyA" Yocum - Age 86 of Toronto passed away Tuesday the 5th of September at the Dixon Health Care Center - Wintersville, OhioHe was born March 27, 1920 in New Somerset (Jefferson County), Ohio the son of the late David E. and Beulah Vandyke Yocum.David is a member of the North River Avenue Christian Church of Toronto where he had also served as a Deacon.His memberships include: Toronto Lodge #583 F. & A.M. Masonic Lodge / Jefferson Ruritan where he had served on the board of directors. He also had served for 15 years as a volunteer driver for the Toronto Emergency Medical Service.David is a veteran of W.W.II having served in the Pacific Theatre of Operations in the U.S. Navy.He retired in 1982 from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co. as a crane operator. He had also worked at the Clarke Funeral Home after his retirement from Wheeling-Pitt for several years as a dedicated door attendant and driver.David was preceded in death by: Parents / Daughter - Jo Ellen Yocum who passed away in 1940 / 2 Brothers - John & Kenneth Yocum / 2 Sisters - Frances Yocum & Mildred McConnell / 2 Grandchildren - Steven Yocum and Richard Alan Yocum.His survivors are:Wife: Mary Felton Yocum of the home whom she married September 5, 1939 - 67 years on the day of his passing.5 Sons: Dennis Yocum and wife Charlotte of Toronto Richard Yocum and wife Patricia of Colorado Springs, Colorado Phillip Yocum and wife Janet of Columbus, Ohio Mark Yocum of Toronto Keith Yocum of Columbus, Ohio2 Sisters: Arlene Higgins and husband George Earl of Vancouver, Washington Marian Rawson of Toronto9 grandchildren / 13 great-grandchildrenSeveral nieces and nephewsFriends and family will gather for visitation - 6-8 Wednesday and also 2-4 & 7-9 Thursday at the Clarke Funeral Home - 302 Main St. - Toronto, OH. 740-537-1234 or 800-588-1446.Jefferson Ruritan Service 7:00 P.M.
