Mother of Rebecca L. Ingole (Michael Ingole) and Paul G. Ferry (Terri Beadnell)

Grandmother of Jona, Emily, Paula, and Meagan

Great-grandmother of Olivia, Gabe, Isabella, Jude, Jovia, Hadley, Charlotte, Shepard, and Gus

Eleanor was married to Paul D. Ferry on May 18, 1956, the day of her senior high school prom. They went to the dance that evening, Eleanor wearing her wedding gown. They were inseparable until Paul’s passing on October 10, 2012.

Eleanor graduated with national honors from the Hannah E. Mullins School of Practical Nursing, Salem, Ohio. She worked as a licensed practical nurse until her retirement at the age of 72.

Eleanor was not only a nurse by profession, but she was the epitome of a true caregiver. She loved and served her family, friends and neighbors well. This was never as evident as in the last 17 months of her life at Parkside Nursing Home, Columbiana, Ohio, where “Ellie” was known to look after her fellow residents.

The last week of her life was a testament to her compassion and selflessness. The nine day spontaneous but seamlessly orchestrated vigil was an experience like none other. Nursing home residents and employees paid their respects in word and deed, Eleanor’s new-found extended family rallying around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. So many thanks go out to the dedicated nurses, aides, housekeepers, and kitchen staff at Parkside.

Eleanor’s work ethic was incomparable. She loved to travel, especially to the beach. She was a supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and granny. Eleanor appreciated all things beautiful. She was preceded in death by three special women in her life, her aunt/sister Kate Grimm, her “adopted” daughter, Michelle Flesch, and her best friend, Sonnie Frampton. Eleanor was a Christian by faith.

There will be a private family viewing and celebration of life at Clark Funeral Home, Toronto, Ohio. Eleanor’s son-in-law, Mike, along with other family members will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, and for those who are able, the family is requesting a donation to Eleanor’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. www.stjude.org
