George Thurman Fisher, Sr. - Age 89 - of Jefferson Street, Toronto, Ohio - died Sunday June 10, 2001 at his residence of natural causes.
Mr. Fisher was always known as Thurm Fisher.
Thurm was born August 26, 1911 in Jefferson County, Ohio, the son of the late George and Blanch McKnight Fisher.
He attended the Toronto First Church of the Nazarene and was a 1931 graduate of Toronto High School.
Thurm was a veteran of W.W.II serving in the U.S. Army. He was at the Normandy Invasion on Omaha Beach on D-Day - the Allied Invasion of Europe. Thurm received 6 Bronze Stars and 1 Bronze Arrowhead during his service in the Army during W.W.II.
He is retired from National Steel Company - Weirton Steel - Weirton, WV.
Thurm was preceded in death by: Parents / 6 Brothers - Webster, Walter, Richard, Harry, John, and James Fisher / 3 Sisters - Laura Prosser, Mary Reed, and Jane Lowe.
His Survivors are:
Wife: Mary E. Smith Fisher of the home whom he married November 7, 1941.
3 Sons: George Fisher and wife Mary Lillian ''''Cookie'''' of Toronto
Gary Fisher and wife Jo Lynn of Toronto
William Fisher and wife Cynthia of Toronto
1 Daughter: Melissa Dunlap and husband Tom of Toronto

Visitation hours will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday June 12, 2001 at Clarke Funeral Home - 302 Main Street, Toronto. 740-537-1234 or 800-588-1446.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday June 13, 2001 1:00 PM at Clarke Funeral Home with Reverend Dennis Kelley officiating.
Burial will be at the Toronto Union Cemetery.
Full Military Graveside Honors will be given by the Toronto American Legion.
