George R. Hawthorne - 74 - of Columbus, Indiana, formerly of Toronto, Ohio, died Monday, January 2, 2006 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus, Indiana. Mr. Hawthorne was a retired truck driver for the Weir-Cove Trucking Co. of Weirton, W.Va. and was a part time labratory courier for the Columbus Regional Hospitial. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1950 to 1954.Mr. Hawthorne was a member of the First Christian Church of Columbus, Indiana, the American Legion Post # 24 and the V.F.W. Post # 1987 in Columbus, Indiana, and the National Rifle Association.Friends and family will gather for visitation from 2 P.M. to 4 P.M. and from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Friday, January 6, 2005 at the Clarke Funeral Home - 302 Main St. - Toronto. 740-537-1234 or 800-588-1446. A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the Clarke Funeral Home with Pastor P. Douglas George officiating.Cremation will follow the service with a private inurnment scheduled for a later date.Mr. Hawthorne was born in Toronto on February 6, 1931, the son of the late Roy and Beatrice (Rossiter Hawthorne.Mr. Haethorne is survived by two sons; Tim Hawthorne of Steubenville and David Hawthorne of Weirton, three daughters; Colleen Abdalla and Holly Kelly both of Toront, and Robin Bowman of Ft.Wayne, Indiana, two step daughters; Deborah Winters and Karen Layman both of Columbus, Indiana, and a sister Martha Black of Cincinnati, Ohio, nine granddaughters, two grandsons, five step grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a step great granddaughterAlong with his parents, Mr. Hawthorne was preceded in death by wives; Rosetta Hawthorne in 1992 and Charlotte Haethorne in 2000.
