George Edward Tond age 69 of Empire passed away Wednesday September 30, 2026 at the Trinity Medical Center West after having courageously fought a battle of with cancer and diabetes.

He was born September 13, 1957 in Steubenville the son of the late Louis and Mary Belle (Mushrush) Tond. Also preceded in death by a sister, Pam Tond.

George was a graduate of Stanton Local High School; was a prankster and loved camping and fishing. He had been employed at different times at the Waist Management, Top Notch and the Jefferson County Highway Department.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Teresa Nice, companion, Steve Virtue: nephews, Mikey, Levi; nieces, Gabby, Jessie, Brooklyn Macie and his beloved dog Mollie.

Family and friends will gather for George’s visitation hours Monday October 5th from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Clarke Funeral Home. A celebration service of George’s life will follow at 6 pm at the funeral home with Reverend Father Thomas Vennitti officiating. Interment will be held at the Toronto Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions in memory of George may be made to the donor’s choice of charities.
