Obituary

Geraldine Audra Turner Wells, 93, of Milford, New Hampshire and formerly of Toronto, Ohio died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday February 21, 2015 at Park Avenue Nursing Home in Arlington, MA.
Geraldine was born on March 18, 1921 to Oscar and Vera Swan in a house on Sinclair Avenue in East Liverpool, Ohio. She was grew up in East Liverpool and graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1939. In 1941, she married Roy Frank Turner of Toronto, Ohio. She took great pride in her work at the Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville, Ohio and her short stint at the Laughlin Pottery Factory in East Liverpool Ohio. She was active as a cadet in the Salvation Army where she played the piano and the violin. As an adult, Jerry was very involved with the Toronto Church of the Nazarene where she earned two Distinguished Servant Awards. She faithfully gave her time and efforts as an organist, Sunday school teacher, missionary president and board member. Jerry was part of the Gideons and helped plant the Osage Church of the Nazarene in Osage, Ohio. She was a volunteer for years at the Hollow Rock Camp in Toronto, Ohio. Jerry loved to crochet and gave away countless afghans in her lifetime. In the final year of her life she made an afghan for each of her six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Jerry was a big sports fan, particularly football- cheering on her precious Pittsburg Steelers. She also loved basketball. During March Madness, you could find Jerry with her brackets filled and following her teams closely.
Jerry was predeceased by her first husband Roy Frank Turner of Toronto, Ohio and her second husband Herman G. Wells of Toronto, Ohio both WWII veterans; a brother Charles W. Swan of East Liverpool, Ohio and a sister Bonivere E. Taylor also of East Liverpool and her daughter-n-law Pamela Turner of Amherst, New Hampshire.
Jerry is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, R. Frank Turner and Rita (Anderson) Turner of Amherst, New Hampshire and Kenneth Turner and Dianne Turner of Arlington, Massachusetts and her step-daughter Neva Jean Wells of Toronto, Ohio. Her niece Charlene Walsh of East Liverpool and her nephew George M. Dunn of Toronto. She will be missed greatly by her 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Jerry''s life will be held in both Community Chapel in Nashua, New Hampshire on Thursday February 26, 2015 at 1:00 and in Toronto, Ohio at the Toronto Church of the Nazarene on February 28, 2015 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Toronto Church of the Nazarene 507 Findlay Street Toronto, Ohio 43964. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Clarke Funeral Home in Toronto, Ohio.
