Janet Evelyn (Goddard) Elder of Toronto passed October 23, 2024 at the Valley Hospice Care Center of Steubenville after a lengthy heroic battle with cancer.

She was born February `13, 1938 in Mingo Junction, OH the daughter of Pemberton and Lila (Piddock) Goddard.

Janet was a mother and homemaker, she loved gardening flowers and going to the beach and was a 1956 graduate of Toronto High School.

In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by grandson, Adam Matthews of Empire, OH; son-in-law Albert David Arabia of Irondale, OH; brothers, Jack, Ed, Frank and Roger and sister Betty June.

Janet is survived by her husband of 65 years married November 21, 1959 Ernest Elder of Toronto; four daughters, Cathy Arabia of Empire, Susan (Douglas) Matthews of Empire, OH, Robin (Harry) Crouch of Toronto, OH, Melissa (Lonnie) Robinson of Weirton, WV.

She is also survived by  eight grandchildren, Ashley Matthews of Toronto, OH, Caitlyn  (Brian) Potkrajac of Toronto, OH, Austin (Mikayla) Matthews of Toronto, OH, Shawn (Leanna) Householder of Steubenville, OH, David Arabia of Empire, OH, Michael Arabia of Steubenville, OH, Sarah Crouch of Athens, OH and Lindsey Crouch of Cincinnati, OH

Janet is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Oaklyn Alexander of Toronto, OH and Wyatt Potkrajac of Toronto, OH.

She was also anticipating the birth of a third great-grandchild, Harper Lee Householder in November.

Janet has three surviving sisters, Mary Alice Meyer of Toronto, OH, Barbara Goddard of Reston Virginia and Dianne Baker of Cheyenne, Wyoming as well of several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will gather from 11AM to 1 PM Saturday October 26th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main Street, Toronto, OH

A celebration service of Janets Life will be held at 1 PM at the funeral home with the Reverend Susan Clegg officiating. Interment will follow at the Sugar Grove Union Cemetery, County Road 68, Toronto, OH.
