Janet Elizabeth Wise, age 80, of Columbus, OH, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.  She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to all, dedicated to her church and faith.  Janet was born on October 17, 1943.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Georgia Pick, her grandsons Owen Pick and Isaac Pick, her son Stephen (Tyona) Wise, grandson Tanner (Alyssa) Wise, granddaughter Gabrielle Wise (great-granddaughter Vivian West), and grandson Parker Wise.  Janet is also survived by her former husband, George Wise, her brother Alex (Annette) Cooper, her niece Betsy Cooper (great nephew Myles Cooper), her niece Angela Cooper, her niece Carrie (Brian) Benner (great niece Juliana Benner), her sister Elaine Bishop, her niece Melinda Bishop (great niece Kendall Bishop), and her niece Laura (Roger) Crider.  Janet was preceded in death by her mother Margaret (Moore) Cooper, her father Stephen Sunyoger, her adoptive father Grant "Bub" Cooper, and her brother Kenneth "Shotgun" Cooper.

Janet graduated from Toronto High School in 1961, was employed at First National Bank, Ohio Valley Hospital, then worked many years at TIMET, where she eventually retired. Alongside her career, she also served as church organist at both Riverview Methodist Church and Toronto First Presbyterian Church.  In her free time, Janet enjoyed playing the organ and piano, singing in her church choirs, barbershop quartets, and various choral ensembles.   She also enjoyed boating, fishing, cooking, baking, and spending time with her friends and family, children, and grandchildren.  After moving to Columbus in 2009, she joined Worthington Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed singing in their church choir for several years.  Janet moved to Otterbein Senior Living in Gahanna in 2015, then was under the care of Summit Hospice during her last 2 years.  She continued to sing up until her final day with us.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 11 am to 2 pm at the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto,

A celebration service or Janet's life will be held Tuesday, January 2nd at the First Presbyterian Church 116 North Third St., Toronto. Interment will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery.
