Jay Leroy Heckathorn, age 86 of Toronto, OH passed away suddenly Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his home.

He was born June 28, 1928 in Stratton, OH.

Jay loved pets; was a member of the Toronto Order of Eagles Aerie #1276; was retired as owner and operator along with his wife Lois of Jay''s Rid-A-Pest and had served in the Army Corps of Engineers.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Violet Grace (Mellott) Heckathorn; brothers, James and Arthur Heckathorn and a sister, Mary Lou Heckathorn Crago. Jay is survived by his wife, Lois Jean (Zimmerman) Heckathorn whom he married June 11, 1950; daughter, Vicki (Donald) Miller of Toronto, OH; son, Jay A. (Vicky) Heckathorn of Seminole, FL; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and dog and best friend Oscar. Visitation hours for Jay will be held 3 to 6 P.M. Thursday, March 5th and from 10 to 11 A.M. Friday, March 6th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, OH. A celebration service of Jay''s life will be held 11 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at the Sugar Grove Union Cemetery, County Road 68, Toronto (Sugar Grove), OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Jay may be made to Hounds Haven, Inc., 22 Township Road 150, Dillonvale, OH 43917
