John M. Eddy, age 76 of Steubenville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the Valley Hospice Care Center North at Trinity East in Steubenville.
Born May 10, 1936 in St. Mary''s, West Virginia, he is a son of the late James and Anna (Hubacher) Eddy. John is retired from both the former Weirton Steel Corporation and the Ohio Edison (First Energy) Plant in Stratton. He is a member and former Elder of the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church. John''s other membership''s include the Pleasant Hill Little League Association, Ohio Edison High Stack Club, Toronto Bowling League, and he was an honorary member of the Toronto V.F.W. Post #6906. John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His greatest joy was being with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by five brothers, William, Eugene, Charles, Robert "Yogi", and James Eddy; two sisters Mary Dalton, Virginia Maples and a nephew Jonathan Eddy.
John''s survivors include, his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Carole J. (Landis) Eddy of the family home. A son, Brian Eddy and his wife Sherry of Saxonburg, Pa, two daughters, Mrs. Janet Westling of Gahanna, Oh, Mrs. Suzy LoPrete and her husband Joe of Toronto, Oh, Grandchildren Alex Eddy, Emma and Giada "Gigi" LoPrete, Jacob and Josh Westling and their father Steve Westling; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and family.
