John Ross Fithen, age 66 of Steubenville, OH passed away Monday January 16, 2017 at the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH.

He was born October 25, 1950 in Steubenville, OH the son of the late Francis E. Fithen and Rita C. (Fisher) Fithen.

John was a member of  St. Francis Roman Catholic Church of Toronto, OH; Weirton Steel 25 Year Club and the Toronto American Legion Post # 86.

He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era; was a 1970 graduate of Steubenville High School; was an avid golfer and loved to garden and grow flowers.

John was retired from the Weirton Steel Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James F. Fithen; sister, Rose Ann Braniff and an infant sister, Mary Edna Fithen.

John is survived by his wife, Pamela A. (Meyer) Fithen whom he married October 25, 1985 on his birthday; three nieces and one nephew also survive and his beloved cat Sadie Ann plus many friends.

Visitation hours for John will be held 2-4 & 6-8 Thursday, January 19th at the Clarke funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, OH. A Vigil Service will be held Thursday at 6 P.M. at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held from 9 to 10 A.M. January20th at the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, corner of Findley Street and Euclid Avenue, Toronto, OH. A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Catholic Church 10 A.M. Friday with celabrant the Reverend Father Thomas Vennitti. Interment will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery.

There will be full military honors at the cemetery by the Toronto American Legion honor guard.
