John H. Yocum - Age 85 - Of Toronto, Ohio, died Friday April 13, 2001 at his residence of natural causes.
He was born September 6, 1915 in Jefferson County, Ohio, the son of the late David E. and Beulah F. Van Dyke Yocum.
He is a member of the New Somerset Christian Church - New Somerset, Ohio
He is also a member of Toronto Masonic Lodge #583 F.& A.M.
He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Federal Credit Union.
He is a veteran of the United States Army serving during W.W.II in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.
He is retired from the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Company as a crane operator in the Cold Strip Mill - Steubenville, Ohio.
John was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother - Kenneth Yocum, 2 sisters - Frances Yocum and Mildred McConnell.
Survivors are:
Wife: Ruth Parr Yocum of the home whom he married August 22, 1937.
1 Son: Dehner John Yocum of Toronto
1 Brother: David E. Yocum & wife Mary of Toronto
2 Sisters: Marian Rawson of New Somerset, Ohio
Arlene Higgins of Washington State
1 Grandaughter: Gretchen Abner of Plano, Texas
2 Great-Grandsons: Dawson and Brody Abner of Plano, Texas
There will be family visitation hours 7-9 Sunday - April 15, 2001 at Clarke Funeral home - 302 Main Street, Toronto, Ohio. 740-537-1234 or 800-588-1446.
A funeral service will be held 2:30 PM Monday April 16, 2001 at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Hanze officiating.
Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery - Wellsville, Ohio.
The Toronto American Legion will conduct Military Honors at the Spring Hill Cemetery Chapel on Monday.
