Joseph Harrison Huff Sr.Toronto- Joseph Harrison Huff Sr., 88, of Toronto died suddenly Friday, December 6, 2002 at his residence. He was born December 23, 1913, in Delaware, OH, a son of the late William Harrison Huff and Rachel Dunlap Huff Jones. Joe was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Winnie Grose who died October 21, 1992; one son, Joseph A"JosieA" Huff Jr. who died in 1983; one infant daughter Orva Jane; two brothers, Willard and Harvey Huff; and four sisters, Dorothy Leasure, Helen Moore, Jean Leason and Alberta Anderson. Joe is survived by three daughters, Linda (Frank) Slowikowski of Toronto, Lori Walter of Smithfield, VA, and Valerie Ann (Paul) Young of Short Creek, WV.; one son, David (Mary Ann) Huff of Toronto; a daughter-in-law Emily (Harold) VanNest of Toronto; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and dear friend, Nell Engel of Steubenville. He was a very well known and respected carpenter around the Ohio Valley for many years. He was a member of the Carpenters Local Union #186 for nearly 60 years, joining in September of 1942. Joe had helped in the construction of many local businesses over the years and also had done remodeling to many homes around the area. He was an avid bowler at the Toronto Bowling Alley for over 30 years, belonging to many different leagues over the years. He had also bowled at the Holiday Lanes in Weirton. His other hobby was pitching horseshoes, which he enjoyed playing with anyone who visited him. He was Methodist by faith and a former member of the Fosterville United Methodist Church in Toronto. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Clarke Funeral Home. Services will be there on Wednesday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Hanze officiating. Interment will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Toronto. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor''s choice.
