Obituary

Mr. Joseph Dean Taylor, 87, of R.D. #1 Steubenville, Ohio passed away on July 19 under the loving care of Valley Hospice at Country Club Manor. He was the son of the late William E. and Retta Blackburn Taylor and was also preceded in death by his wife, Janet Owens Taylor, and his brother William.Mr. Taylor was a highly decorated veteran of World War II. He served in the South Pacific Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster for Gallantry in action. He had worked in the construction industry for many years and retired from the May Department Stores as their director of new construction.Mr. Taylor is survived by his children Carl E. (Shirley) Hughes of Richmond, Ohio, Deana Taylor Nadeau of Jackson, Michigan and James B. (Paula) Taylor of Toronto, Ohio. He is survived by seven grandchildren - Belinda (Eric) Anderson of Toronto, Brian Hughes of Richmond, Stephen (Michelle) Nadeau of Jackson, MI., Wendy Nadeau of Murfeesboro, TN, Lara Spendiff of Albany, New York, Jessica and Samantha Taylor both of Toronto, and four great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Harlowe of Perrysville, KY, Thomas Taylor of Gladewater, TX, and one sister, Mary Taylor Grafton of Steubenville as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins including Morris (Smoke) Taylor and loyal friend Pete Petrides.Friends may call at the Clarke Funeral Home from 3-5 & 7-9 P.M. on Friday, July 21, 2006 and also additional visitation from 2:30 to 4:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will at Center Chapel Cemetery with the Toronto American Legion Post #86 conducting full military honors. Family and friends will be received at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church following interment.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley Hospice, 380 Summit Avenue, Steubenville, Ohio 43952 were Mr. Taylor had served as a volunteer for many years.
