June Verlinda Hughes, age 93 of Toronto, OH passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at the Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH.

She was born June 27, 1923 in Toronto, OH the daughter of the late Charles Amos and Beulah Margaret (Rainey) Stratton.

June was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church of Toronto, OH; past member of the Toronto Women's Civic Club and was a 1942 graduate of Toronto High School.

She loved being with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild and she loved the color green especially green plants.

June had been formerly employed as a secretary at the former Steubenville Paperboard Co.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence A. Hughes who passed away June 29, 1981 and whom she married August 30, 1948 and her sister, Virginia A. Dahill who passed away January 24, 2008.

June is survived by her sons, David W. (Cici) Hughes of Maplewood, MN, Larry C. (Karen Shell) Hughes of Toronto, OH and Douglas J. (Malynda) Hughes of Steubenville, OH; daughter, Linda A. (Michael) Menza of Colorado Springs, CO; twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild survive.

Visitation hours for June will be held 2-4 & 6-8 Tuesday, June 27th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.

A celebration service of June's life will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, June 28th at the funeral home with Pastor Ed Kovacik officiating. Interment will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery.
