Larry Van
Dobbins Sr.
November 15, 1947 – December 6, 2021
Larry Van Dobbins, Sr. age 74 of the Toronto area passed away suddenly at his home Monday, December 6, 2021.
He was born November 15, 1947 in Weirton, WV the son of the late Lester B. and Betty J. (Williamson) Dobbins.
Larry's memberships were the Hopedale American Legion, Hopedale Sportsman Club, and the Mingo Sportsman Club. He was an avid hunter and loved to ride his ATV and motorcycle. He was a U.S. Army veteran, 1st Battalion, 33rd Field Artillery, serving his country in Ansbach, Germany during the Vietnam War Era.
Larry was retired from the Arcelor-Mittal Steel Co. formerly the Weirton Steel Co. where he worked for 43 years as a machinist.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Dobbins.
Larry is survived by his son, Larry V. Dobbins, Jr. of Toronto (Knoxville); daughters, Penny (Terry) Long of Richmond, OH, Sarena (Michael) Heiss of Captain Cook, HI, and Leslie (Steve) Miller of Waynesville, OH; grandchildren; Jessica and Cheyenne Dobbins, Austin and Addison Long, Brenna Heiss, Warren, Ada, Euan, Reid, and Caroline Miller; dearest friends, Jerry and Nancy Tate.
Visitation hours for Larry will be held 2-4 & 6-8 Monday, December 13th at the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto.
A celebration of life service will be held 11AM Tuesday, December 14th at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Island Creek Cemetery. The service will be streamed on the Clarke Funeral Home web page. Push like if needed to view the service.
Full military honors will be presented by the Hopedale American Legion. The service will be streamed on the Clarke Funeral Home Facebook page.
