Margaret Ellen Martelle, age 70, of Toronto, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026. She was born April 18, 1956, in Alliance, Ohio, the daughter of the late Richard and Shirley (Nixon) Martelle. She was preceded in death by her brother, Norman Martelle, and his wife, Sarah “Sally” (Eckles) Martelle, of Toronto, Ohio. Margaret was a 1974 graduate of Toronto High School and a 1978 graduate of Kent State University. Margaret was known for her baking, particularly her cakes, which she made for many customers throughout the years. Margaret was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Toronto. She lived much of her life independently and very much on her own terms. Her surviving family includes her nephew, Branden Martelle, and his wife, Elizabeth, and their children, Alexia and Harley Martelle, of Carroll, Ohio; and her niece, Sarah (Martelle) Hernandez, and her husband, Jose, and their children, Alexander and Olivia Hernandez, of Haines City, Florida. Given the circumstances surrounding Margaret’s final arrangements, the family has made the difficult decision not to hold a memorial service. We respectfully ask that this decision and the family’s wishes be honored. Margaret’s family will instead remember her privately in their own way.
