Maynard Bryan Goad, 75, of Toronto, Ohio, passed away suddenly at his home on
Sunday, May 24, 2026.
Born on July 22, 1950, in Roanoke, Virginia, he was the son of the late Maynard B. &
Virginia F. Goad. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved
wife of 51 years, Carolyn (Sis) Goad, and his brother, Steve Goad.
Maynard is survived by his son, Mark Goad, & daughter, Amber (Duane) Peckens;
sisters, Ramona (Kenneth) Martin & Cissy Dillon; brothers, Glenn (Wanda) Goad & Mike
(Janet) Goad; grandchildren, Eva Goad, Memphis Goad, Chloe Peckens, & Gunnar
Peckens; sisters-in-law, Sandra Holsinger & Sandy K. Holsinger; brother-in-law, Wayne
Easter; as well as many nieces & nephews.
He was a 1970 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School in Daleville, VA, and later retired
from Local Union 495 Plumbers & Pipefitters. Maynard worked for many years with
McCarl’s, where many knew him as “Buzzard.”
In addition to his work, Maynard had a true passion for carpentry & took great pride in
building his family home many years ago. Though he was known for his tough exterior,
those who knew him best will remember his humor, laughter, and the joy he brought to
others. He loved golfing & spent many hours on the course at Spring Hills Golf Course.
Above all, he was a devoted grandfather, lovingly known as “Pappy,” and he never
missed an opportunity to attend & support his grandchildren’s activities & events.
Maynard will be deeply missed & lovingly remembered by all who knew & loved him.
Family and friends will gather for Maynard’s visitation Sunday May 31, from 2 to 6 PM 2026 at the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto. Following visitation, a celebration service of Maynard’s life will be held at 6 PM at the funeral home with the Reverend Jane Schockey officiating.
