Orliou Mae Swickard, age 98 of Toronto, OH   passed away at her home Friday, March 18, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born January 27, 1918 in Knox Township, OH the daughter of the late John Raymond and Laura Ann (Ramsey) Swickard.

Orliou was a homemaker, a mother figure and teacher to all and was a caregiver to her family and friends.  She graduated in 1936 from the Bergholz High School and was the oldest member of the New Somerset Christian Church where she served as a member of the Willing Workers of the church.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold,  Clyde and Warner Swickard; sister, Margaret Rogers; nephews, Jack Rogers and Ronald Swickard; sisters-in-law, Inez (Buxton) Swickard, Naomi (Householder) Swickard and Marge (Ross) McClain Swickard.

Orliou is survived by her sister, Jean V. Swickard of the family home in Toronto, OH; nieces, Lois (Paul) Spence of Toronto, OH, Sinda (Don) Judis of Youngstown, OH and Mary (Ken) Stevens of Toronto, OH; nephews, Dwaine Swickard of Wadsworth, OH, John (Betty) Swickard of Stratton, OH, Larry (Rita) Swickard of Toronto, OH, David Swickard of Richmond, OH and James Rogers of Salineville, OH; special great nieces, Jamie Starky and Shelly Rogers and several great-nephews survive. Also surviving are several great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours for Orliou will be held 2-4 and 6-8 Tuesday, March 22nd at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, OH. Additional visitation will be held 9 to 11 A.M. Wednesday, March 23rd at the New Somerset Christian Church, New Somerset, OH where a celebration service of Orliou's life will be held at 11 A.M. with Pastor Rob Minto officiating.  Interment will follow at the New Somerset Christian Cemetery.
