Obituary

Robert E. Flowers, age 87 of Canton, formerly of Toronto, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2005 at his home.Born March 2, 1918 in Wellsville, he is a son of the late Emmett and Ethel Dott Flowers. Robert is a 1938 graduate of Toronto High School, attended the North River Avenue Church of Christ, and was a member of the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theatre during WW II. He is retired from the former LTV Steel Company in Canton. and is a member of both the Toronto American Legion St. Mihiel Post 86 and the V.F.W. Post 6906 in Toronto.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Rolland, Hayward, and Harry Earl Flowers, and a sister Wilda A"BettyA" Smith.His survivors include, a niece, Mrs. Roberta Joan Weidger and her husband Daniel (Danny), a great-nephew Edward Weidger and his wife Rita, two great-great-nieces Jennifer and Danielle Weidger, and a great-great-nephew Jeffery Weidger all of Toronto.Family and friends will gather for visitation on Sunday, June 12, 2005 from 5-9 P.M. at the Clarke Funeral Home - 302 Main St. Toronto. 740-537-1234/800-588-1446A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 13, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Robert E. Hanze officiating. Burial will follow at Toronto Union Cemetery where the Toronto American Legion St. Mihiel Post 86 will conduct full military graveside honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Robert''s name may be made to The Toronto American Legion Baseball Association - 415 Market St. Toronto.
