IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Douglas
Peckens
April 11, 1934 – November 19, 2025
Robert D "Bob" Peckens Sr., 91, a life-long resident of Toronto, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at the Meadows of Cadiz. Bob was born on April 11, 1934 to the late Robert and Elizabeth Peckens. He was a 1952 graduate of Toronto High School and, upon graduation, proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Bob retired from the TIMET Corporation of Toronto after a long career as an electrician. He was an active member of both the Jefferson County Sportsman's Club and the Toronto Rod & Gun Club; and a devoted leader of Bible study at Gospel Hall in Steubenville. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, weather aficionado, experienced gardener, and skilled photographer who enjoyed sports and history and caring for his hunting dogs; and was well-known for his humor and unique storytelling talents. Above all, he was a born-again Christian who believed in the redeeming power of God's grace and took every opportunity to spread the Gospel, famously leading prayer at family/holiday gatherings in Jesus's ever-wondrous and precious name. He was preceded in death by brothers George Peckens and Victor Peckens; sister Nancy Messenger; and granddaughter Emily Peckens. Surviving are his loving wife, Wonnona "Sis" Peckens, with whom he recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary together on November 8; children Doug (Judy) Peckens of Yorkville; Jeff (Sheryl Kay) Peckens of Bloomingdale; and Kathy (John) Antol of Newark, OH; grandchildren Shaylee (Eric) Wittmer of Morgantown, WV; Jared (Mica) Peckens of Knoxville; D.J. Peckens of New Albany, OH; Breeci (Mario) Posteraro of Coraopolis, PA; Rami (Justin) Nau of Wheeling; John Christopher Antol of Newark; and Kendra Antol of Newark; great-grandchildren Payslee Peckens; Logan Kay Peckens; Preston Wittmer; Theo Nau; and Giovanni Posteraro; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at a visitation to be held at Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St, Toronto, on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 10 am to 2 pm, at which time full military honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Toronto Cemetery.
