Robert J. Shumard 82, of Juanita Street, Steubenville, Ohio, died Sunday May 13, 2001 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, Ohio
Robert was born July 1, 1918 in Marietta, Ohio the son of the late Howard I. and Doris Yates Shumard.
He is a member of the Bell Chapel United Methodist Church, Pleasant Hill.
Robert is a veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations during World War II. He is retired from the Ohio Edison Company - Strip Field Division. He was preceded in death by; Parents; Wife - Kathleen Dougherty Shumard, who passed away November 14, 1995 and whom he married January 28, 1941; one daughter, Donna Bickerstaff, who passed away in 1980; one brother, Charles A. Shumard, who passed away in 1986; a step-sister, Margaret Schmidt; step-mother, Elizabeth Bell Shumard, who passed away in 1947; two grandsons and one granddaughter. Robert''s Survivors; 2 Sons; Robert Shumard and his wife Harriett of Stratton, Ohio Ronald Shumard and his wife Frankie of Toronto, Ohio 1 Daughter; Mrs. Gary (Phyllis) Davidson of Toronto, Ohio 1 Brother; William Shumard of Iowa 3 Sisters; Mrs. Ellsworth (Ruby) Bell of Wintersville, Ohio Mrs. George (Ruth) Nutting of Sarasota, Florida Mrs. Harold (Norma) Bell of Smith Mountain, Virginia 10 Grandchildren 5 Great-Grandchildren Visitation hours for Robert will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday May 15, 2001 at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main Street, Toronto, Ohio 740-537-1234 or 800-588-1446. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at the Clarke Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Proya, officiating. Burial will take place at the Toronto Union Cemetery, Toronto, Ohio
