Thomas E. Roth Sr., age 80 of Steubenville (Pleasant Hill), passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at his home.Born November 5, 1930 in Toronto, he is a son of the late William H. and Leona Mable Hawkins Roth. Tom is retired from the former Weirton Steel Corporation in Weirton, West Virginia where he worked as a welder. Tom served his country during the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. For many years Tom was a Special Deputy for the Jefferson County Sheriff''s Department and also served his community as a member of the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Department and was an honorary member of the Knoxville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows - Steubenville Lodge, and was protestant by faith.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lila Ireta Roth whom he married September 1, 1956 and who passed away September 2, 2003. Two brothers, Edgar Rae Roth and George W. Roth; three sisters, Jeanette Powers, June Kirkbride, an infant sister Rebecca, and two Granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Cross and Amber Nichole Roth.Tom''s survivors include, two sons, Thomas E. Roth Jr. and his wife Carla, and Roger Roth and his wife Tammy all of Toronto. A daughter, Ms. Lila A. Cross of Toronto, two brothers, Robert Roth of Steubenville, and Jimmy Roth of Toronto, two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Gilcrest and her husband Dana of Irondale, Ohio, and Mrs. Shirley Elliott and her husband Buzz of Richmond. Two grandsons, Joshua Roth and his wife Michelle of Brilliant, Oh, and Noah Roth and his FiancAC.e Krishele of Toronto; one great - grandson Jacob Roth, one great granddaughter Cheznie Roth, two step-great-grandsons Travis and Tucker and one step-great-granddaughter Lucy.Family and friends will gather for visitation on Saturday, September 24 from 7-9 P.M. and on Sunday September 25 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the Clarke Funeral Home - 302 Main St. Toronto, Ohio 43964 740-537-1234/800-588-1446A celebration service of Tom''s life will be held on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
