William Murray Hutchison, Sr. of Bloomingdale, Ohio, a former Toronto, Ohio resident passed away Wednesday - September 22, 2010 at the Dixon Health Care Center - Wintersville, Ohio.He was born January 29, 1923 in Toronto the son of the late George Hutchison who passed away in 1954 and Elizabeth Marie Baillie Hutchison who passed away in 1969.William was an avid golfer and was a 1940 graduate of Toronto High School.His memberships includes: 65 year member of the Toronto Masonic Lodge #583 F.& A.M. / Life member and past Commander of the Toronto American Legion Post #86 / the Volture Nationale forty and eight Veterans Local 442.William was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in the Asiatic - Pacific Theatre of Operations during W.W.II from 1942 to 1945. He also served in the U.S. Navy Reserves until 1983. He served the Navy for 38 years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer.He was a Toronto, Ohio Fire Department fire fighter from Sept. 1952 to Dec. 1955; Fire Department Captain from Dec. 1955 to June 1957; Fire Department Assistant Chief from June 1957 to Nov. 1959; Fire Department Chief from Nov. 1959 to Oct. 1979. 27 years of service to the Toronto Fire Department. He was on the Toronto Volunteer Fire Dept. Honor Roll for over 15 years. He also served as a State of Ohio Fire Marshall from 1980 to 1994. He was a certified welder having worked for the former Toronto Block Plant for several years.William was preceded in death by his parents; brothers - Charles (1917); Earl (1944) and George Hutchison (1968).His survivors are:Wife: Mary Emma Collins Hutchison whom he married August 25, 1944Son: William M. Sunday September 26th at the Clarke Funeral Home - 302 Main St. - Toronto. A Masonic service will be held 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.Friends and family are invited to gather for a graveside service 11:00 A.M.
