William Henry "Bill" Martin, Sr. - Age 88 - of Toronto passed away Thursday - January 31st at his home surrounded by his loving family.He was born March 19, 1919 in Wellsville the son of the late Joseph Martin who passed away in 1950 and Lillian Morrow Martin who passed away in 1996.Bill is a member of the First Assembly of God of Abundant Life Church of Toronto; the Toronto American Legion Post #86. He loved roses and was a great gardenerBill is a W.W. II - U. S. Navy Veteran and is retired as a crane operator for the Bethlehem Steel Co. - Buffalo Tanks Division in New Jersey.He was preceded in death by: Parents / 2 brothers - James F. (1967) and Jay Martin (2003) / 5 sisters - Jeannie Martin (1937); Elizabeth Spencer (1951); Pauline Brand (1988); Bernice Heist (1993); Marion Lewis (1996) / 2 grandchildren - Peggy Wadnik and Connie Martin.Bill''s survivors are: Wife - Myrtle Iona (Brand) Martin of the home whom he married April 8, 1967 6 sons - Joseph Martin and wife Marabel of Houston, Texas; Douglas Martin of Middlesex, N.J.; William "Butch Martin and wife Annie of Plainfield, N.J.; Jay Martin and wife Sandy of Anderson, S.C.; William H. Martin, Jr. and wife Linda of Oxford, PA; James F. Martin and wife Brenda of Toronto. 5 daughters - Dortha Wadnik and husband William of Anderson, S.C.; Patricia Moore and husband Gilbert of Lakewood, N.J.; Debra Stevens and husband Tommy of Anderson, S.C.; Kay Passe and husband Donanic of South Bound Brook, N.J.; Linda Hugill of Bay City, Texas. 2 brothers - George and John Martin of Toronto / 3 sisters - Josephine Moore; Mary Ann Lewis of Toronto; Jean Ann Jones of Shreeves, Ohio 23 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.Friends and family will gather for visitation 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday at the Clarke Funeral Home - 302 Main St. - Toronto. 740-537-1234 or 800-588-1446. There will be Toronto American Legion Services at the funeral home Sunday at 7:00 P.M..A celebration of Bill''s life service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday - February 4th at the funeral home with Pastor Brad Myers officiating. Burial will follow at the Island Creek Cemetery - Church Road - Toronto where there will be Full Military Graveside Honors by the Toronto American Legion.There will be a funeral luncheon following services at the funeral home and cemetery at the Assembly of God of Abundant Life Church - N.
