William R. Smith, Sr., 67, of Benson Lane, Steubenville, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2002, at the Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville.He was born October 22, 1935, in Steubenville.He is a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran.William is a member of Teamsters Local Union 1190 of Steubenville and is retired from the Smith Truck Service of Steubenville.He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph W. Smith, who passed away in 1978.William''s survivors are his wife, June E. Adams Smith, at home and whom he married November 5, 1954; a son, William R. Smith, Jr. of Toronto; a daughter, Kathleen Davis of Chesapeake, Va.: his mother, Betty June Bennington Smith of East Liverpool; two brothers, Robert Smith of Alabama and Ralph W. Smith and his wife, Ruth, of Old Town, Florida; five sisters, Norma Jean Taylor of Toronto, Eleanor June Johnson and her husband, Junior, of East Liverpool, Sara M. Boggs and her husband, James of Cincinnati, Ann M. Fogel and her husband, Robert, of Salem, Ohio, and Hazel L. Cochran and her husband, William, of Rogers, Ohio; three grandchildren, Randall Sims of Toronto, Donald Davis and Amber Dawn Davis of Chesapeake; and a special niece, Cindy Hollingsworth of Steubenville.Friends and family will be received for visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. Friday, December 20 at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main Street, Toronto. 740-537-1234 or 800-588-1446.Military Honors will be given by the Toronto American Legion Chaplain immediately following the funeral service Friday.In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of William may be made to the American Heart Association or the Salvation Army.
