David “GUNSMOKE” Henderson, age 72 of Richmond passed away Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Acuity Specialty Hospital of Weirton.
He was born December 21, 1948 in New Martinsville, WV the son of the late Howard Henderson and his mother, Paula (Sulley) Henderson who survives of Wellsburg.
David was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Toronto; was a 1967 graduate of Wellsburg High School; served his country during the Vietnam War in the Army; was a life long Steeler fan; was known as GUNSMOKE to all his CB friends and had retired from the Clearfork Truck Company of Cadiz.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Jo (Sperlazza) Henderson in 2017 whom he married November 14, 1970 and brothers, Norman and Robert Henderson.
In addition to his mother he is survived by sons, Terry (Kerri) Henderson of Mechanicsville, VA, Aaron (Christina) Henderson and Matthew (Krissy) Henderson all of Richmond; grandchildren, Sophia Jo, James “JD”, Joseph “JJ” and Brandle Henderson; siblings, Terry Henderson of Carrollton, Lavena Henderson of Wellsburg, Lloyd (Teri) Henderson of Florida, Mary Ann Gebroski, Carl Henderson, Mark Henderson, Martha Kay (Matt) Mazzella and George Henderson all of Wellsburg, Tim Henderson of California and Wayne (Bethany) Henderson of Wellsburg.
Family and friends will gather for David’s visitation 3 to 7 Wednesday, March 3rd at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.
There will be military honors presented by the Toronto American Legion Chaplain at the funeral home at 7 PM Wednesday following visitation hours.
Interment will take place at the Sugar Grove Union Cemetery at a later date.
