Donald J. Moore, age 95 of Toronto passed away Friday December 16, 2022
He was born October 3, 1927 in Cherokee, KY the son of the late Hezekiah Carl and Dora (Young) Moore and he was also preceded in death by his first wife Maxine Furbee; second wife Doris L. (Leasure) Moore in 2006 whom he married July 16,1955; grandson Todd Mohr; great grandson, Noah Sapp; six brothers and two sisters.
Donald was a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church of Toronto and had retired as a truck driver for the Green Line Trucking of Malvern, OH and the Hess Cartage of Steubenville. he served his country in the U.S. Army serving during WW II in the Pacific Theatre of operations and he served on the Toronto Union Cemetery board for several years.
He is survived by his third wife, Ruth Anne (Stevens) Moore whom he married October 12, 2007; daughters, Mona Jean (Ronald) Anderson of Queenstown, MD and Terri Sue Sapp of Toronto; grandson, Aaron (Jonie) Sapp and great grandchildren, Madison, Lily and Kamryn and his loving canine champion, Rowdy.
Donald belonged to the following: Toronto American Legion Post 86, member and Past Master of Toronto Lodge # 583 F &A.M., member and past master of Toronto Royal Arch Masons, Ohio, Steubenville Commandry No. 11, Priory No. 18 Knights of the York Cross of Honour,Valley of Steubenville, Scottish Rite 32degree, member and past Illustrious Master of Union Council no. 2.
Visitation hours for Donald will be held 4-7 Thursday, December 22nd at the Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto. Masonic services for Donald will be held at 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
A celebration service of Donald’s life will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Dixon officiating. Interment will follow at the Toronto Cemetery.
Following the services at the funeral home and before going to the cemetery the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard will present honors at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Donald’s memory may be made to Toronto Masonic Lodge #583, Jefferson County Humane Society or the Riverview United Methodist Church.
