Dorothy “Dot” Grace Fluharty, age 96 of Steubenville, passed away at her residence surrounded by loving family. She was born September 23, 1925, in Toronto; the daughter of the late Arthur and Iva Marie (Beaver) Holsinger.
Dorothy was a member of the Unionport Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 360, a girl scout leader, and a member of the MADD organization. She was employed by the Colliers Steel Company during WWII as a press operator. She loved babysitting her grandchildren, crocheting, quilting, and playing with her dogs (Sadie and Dinky).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Lee Fluharty; brothers, Robert Holsinger and Arthur Holsinger; infant daughter Arthurmarie Fluharty; and son-in-law, Ronald Nelson.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Leona Jean Nelson of Steubenville; grandchildren: Emily (James) Vandyke of Surry, Virginia, Scott (Jessica) Nelson of Toronto, Adam (Tracy Workman) Nelson, Jason (Angela) Nelson of Wintersville, and Rhonda (Sean Wildes) Nelson of Salesville; great-grandchildren: Faith, Jacob, Bentley, Lillian, Noah W, Leah, Noah K, Justin, Luke, Tabitha, Bryce, Ian, Joley; and great-great grandchild, Piper; and many cherished nephews, nieces and other extended family.
Visitation hours on Friday, June 17th are 4pm-7pm (with A Unionport Order of Eastern Star Service at 6:30pm) at Clarke Funeral Home, Toronto. On Saturday, June 18th, the visitation hours are 11am-12pm. Pastor David Fetter will be officiating the celebration service of Dorothy’s life at 12pm - with internment following at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville.
