Floyd R. Martin, age 82 of Richmond, OH passed away at home surrounded by his family was welcomed into heaven on Thursday, February 11, 2021
He was born September 21, 1938 in Port Homer, OH the son of the late Clarence Martin Sr. and Edith Dillon Martin.
Besides his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life Shirley Martin whom he married August 28, 1964. Siblings, Charles E. Martin, Marjorie E. Martin Hobbs, Clarence “Bob” Martin, Jr., Mildred R. Martin,Carl Martin, Clara E. Martin Russell, Blanche N. Martin, Elmer L. Martin and Betty Mae “Hannah” Martin Johnson.
Floyd is survived by daughter Susan (Elmer) Monigold of Wintersville, OH, son, Randall (Robin) Martin of Toronto, OH; granddaughters, Miranda (Vance) Thomas of Wellsville, OH, Taylor Monigold of Richmond, OH and Grace Martin of Newell, WV; sisters, Della Hudson of Wellsville, OH; brothers, James (Kathleen) Martin of Hammondsville, OH, Rosemond “Jack” (Gladys) Martin of Mingo Jct., OH and Donald “Chip” (Betty) Martin of Bellefontaine, OH.
Floyd was a member of the Port Homer Community Church. He retired from Schiappa Coal / Anthony Mining Company and served his country in the U.S. Army
He was a loving husband to his late wife of 43 years of marriage. He was the greatest dad to his two children which he loved dearly and worked so hard all his life sacrificing so much for himself to give them everything they needed or wanted. He was a spoiling grandfather to his grandkids and always made sure that they had it all. He was a loving brother to all his siblings. He worried so much about them all. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for all of them. He had such a big heart, he would give the last dollar he had to a complete stranger if they were in need.
He will be sadly missed by so many lives he touched and had the honor to know him.
Friends and family will be received for Floyd’s visitation 1 to 3 PM Tuesday, February 16th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main Street, Toronto.
A celebration service of Floyd’s life will be held 3 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Reverend Doug Snyder officiating. Interment will follow at the Sugar Grove Union Cemetery.
Full military honors will be held by the Toronto American Legion at the funeral home following services.
Memorial contributions in memory of Floyd may be made to the Port Homer Community Church, 2454 County Road 68, Toronto, OH 43964.
