Gary Lee Hughes

Gary Lee Hughes, age 76 of Toronto passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 at the Acuity Specialty Hospital of Weirton.

He was born October 23, 1944 in Steubenville, the son of the late John D. Hughes and Illeen (Snyder) Hughes.

Gary was a member of the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church of Toronto; was a 1963 graduate of Toronto High School; was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a big Ohio State and Cleveland Brown’s fan and loved being with his grandchildren every chance he had including at their sporting events. He loved hanging out with the guys at Tim Starr’s service station.

He served his country during the Vietnam War era and was retired from the Weirton Steel Co. as a pipefitter.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte (Cich) Hughes in 1993 whom he married October 22, 1972.

Gary is survived by his sons, Brian and his wife Jeannette Hughes and Shawn and his wife Jodi Hughes all of Toronto; grandchildren, Brock, Drew, Addison and Maxwell Hughes and a brother, Rick Hughes of Toronto.

Family and friends will gather for visitation 2-4 & 6-8 Friday, February 19th at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto.

Services for Gary will be held 12 noon Saturday, February 20th at the funeral home with Reverend Father Thomas Vennitti officiating. Interment will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery.

Full military honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard following services at the funeral home Saturday.
