John F. Lewis, age 74 of Toronto passed away Tuesday January 11, 2022.
He was born November 6, 1947 in Stratton the son of the late Harold E. Lewis, Sr. and Susan B. (Borecky) Lewis.
He loved his family and always supported them and loved his classic Old’s Cutlass, working in his yard and enjoyed many years of being a Toronto Band Parent and driving the band equipment bus.
John was protestant by faith and had attended the First United Methodist Church of Toronto and the New Somerset Christian Church of New Somerset; had served eleven years on the Toronto School Board having served as board president several times and served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy.
He had been employed as the superintendent of the tin mill division of the Weirton Steel Co. after which John was employed and had retired from the Titanium Metals Corporation as a Mechanical Engineer. John was also a valued associate of the Clarke Funeral Home.
In addition to John’s parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, H. Edward “Eddie” Lewis, Jr. and a sister, Mary Beth Lewis.
John is survived by his wife, Judith A. (Sciance) Lewis whom he married May 22, 1971; sons, Matthew E.G. Lewis of Toronto and Joshua J. Lewis and wife Sherry E. (Ammon) Lewis and a son of Josh and Sherry’s, Elvis E. Jordan III all of Toronto; sisters, Kathy (Stanley “Butch”) Jessic of Hollidaysburg, PA and Regina (R. Lee) Churchman of Toronto; many nieces and nephews; grand puppies, Maximus Aurelius and Chuckles and a special son, Sam Anderson.
Visitation hours for John will be from 1 to 4 PM Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Clarke Funeral Home followed by a celebration service of John’s life at 4 PM Friday with Pastor Rob Minto officiating.
Full military honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard following services at the funeral home.
