Krystal Valuska Obituary

Krystal Marie Valuska, age 24 of Toronto passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021.

She was born December 19, 1996 in Steubenville the daughter of John David and Katrinka (Swearingen) Valuska of the family home.

Krystal attended the Cornerstone Church of Toronto; was a 2014 graduate of Toronto High School where she had been a flag girl, band member, acted in school plays, sang in the choir and participated in many other activities at Toronto High. She also attended the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School while in high school.

She was a free spirit who loved to go hiking and loved to sing and listen to music and play her electric guitar.

Krystal was currently employed as a Homeland Security TSA federal officer at the Pittsburgh International Airport. At the airport she found a planted bomb and as a result of her find she received the Homeland Security Eagle award

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents David and Katherine Valuska and her maternal grandfather, John “Moose” Swearingen.

In addition to her parents, Krystal is survived by her sister, Jesse (Theotis Stamps) Valuska of Toronto; maternal grandmother, Kathleen (Walt Parsons) Brannon of Toronto; uncles and aunts, Joe (Heather Tice) Swearingen, Casey and Ernie Mozingo of Richmond, Paul Valuska of Weirton, Mary and Jim Barringer of Carrollton, Don and Helen Marker of Steubenville, Jim and Cassie Hutchison of Bergholz and Ethel and Roy Vaughn of Maysville KY; Godson, Anthony Joseph Payne and Goddaughter, Safiya Sallis.

Visitation hours for Krystal will be held 2-4 and 6-8 Sunday, January 31st at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto, OH.

A celebration service of Krystal’s life will be held 11 AM Monday, February 1st at the funeral home with Pastor Raul Diaz officiating. Interment will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery.

 Masks and social distancing are required at the funeral home. No exceptions. Thank you for your consideration on behalf of Krystal’s family and the funeral home personnel.
